Probably, there is not a single owner of a private or capital summer house who would not like to finish his home with such a luxurious and magnificent natural stone called travertine.

This natural material, which is a cross between fine marble and limestone, has been used for cladding the facades of major summer houses and cottages, as well as for interior decoration for several millennia.

Travertine was used as a finishing and building material even in Ancient Rome, and the most striking example of the use of such a unique natural stone is the famous Colosseum, which was completely built from this building material.

The main advantages of travertine

You can talk about the advantages of this natural stone for a very long time, but the most important of them is the ease of processing. Travertine has all the positive properties that natural marble and limestone have, but is practically devoid of the disadvantages that are characteristic of the aforementioned rocks.

Mostly travertine tiles of some natural colors are used in construction: light brown, light beige, white and light gray. Travertine from Vietnam and Iran, which has a darker shade, is much less commonly used for decoration and construction. Of course, such a natural stone is subject to the least abrasion, it looks very aesthetically pleasing, but its cost is rather high.

The advantages of travertine of any shades include not only an aesthetic and noble appearance, but also environmental friendliness, as well as a high level of frost resistance. This natural building material is also highly resistant to high temperatures and temperature extremes, so it can be used without any fear for the exterior decoration of buildings.

It should also be noted that travertine is a porous material with a low density, and these properties allow it to be used as a heat and noise insulation coating inside residential premises.

In addition, due to its porosity, travertine is easily cut and polished without any difficulty, this natural material is more convenient to use than natural marble.

Travertine is not subject to corrosion, has excellent fire resistance, and mold does not form on its surface, so coatings of this natural material can also be used to decorate floors or walls in any room with a high level of humidity.
